Cracked heels – just cosmetic or a real issue?

Alright, I’ll admit it… my feet are shocking right now. Cracked heels that look like they’ve been through a desert trek, and I’ve been ignoring them for ages. My partner keeps nagging me to actually do something about it, but I keep brushing it off thinking it’s just cosmetic. They don’t really hurt, apart from the odd split that stings a bit, but nothing serious. Do I really need to go see someone about it, or is it just about slapping some cream on and moving on? Curious to hear if anyone’s had it get worse.

Haha mate, been there. I used to joke my heels looked like the outback in dry season. Thought it was just an ugly look until I ended up with a nasty split that got infected – not fun. Went to a podiatrist thinking they’d just roll their eyes, but turns out there’s more to it. Proper foot care can stop it from escalating into something painful or even limit your mobility if it gets really bad. If you’re curious, have a look here  https://podiatricdoc.com.au/services/general-foot-care/  – it covers all the basics and what they actually do for you. Honestly, worth it if you’re sick of dealing with cracked heels every summer.
