Meeting bushfire (BAL) requirements for sheds

We’re on a property with a BAL rating, and I’m unclear how it affects a simple storage shed. Do I need specific cladding, ember screens, or a setback from vegetation? The last thing I want is to buy a kit and learn it doesn’t meet BAL. If you’ve built in a bushfire area, what products and details passed your council’s assessment, and did it meaningfully change the project cost?

BAL absolutely matters—our council wanted non-combustible cladding, metal mesh ember guards on vents, and cleared vegetation zones. I used the guidance on https://shedpermit.au/ to list the BAL level, cladding spec, and ember protection on the drawings. We also added a note about keeping gutters clear and a water point nearby. Costs went up modestly, but the submission sailed through because the fire risk controls were explicit.
