Welcome to Oldfield Poll Herefords
Oldfield Poll Hereford Stud was formed in 1984 upon a commercial herd established in 1968. We are located at Emerald Hill on the fertile North West Plains approximately 22km NW of Gunnedah NSW. We are a family owned and run operation with a herd base of 350 registered poll Hereford females of leading Australia/New Zealand and North American genetics. We expanded our herd with the purchase of the quality Markowen female herd from Keith, SA, in October 2010. We choose top genetics for our stud herd and then run it as a commercial operation for exceptional performance in all conditions + profit. We are EU ACCREDITED and have been performance recording across the entire herd with BREEDPLAN for 16 years. You are welcome to inspect our operation by calling Peter on 0427 431 521. We'd be delighted to show you around.

5 exciting bulls for Dubbo National Show & Sale 4-5 June 2012
- SMOF92 - a bull with great cosmetics and a beautiful outlook like his sire Markowen Classic. F92 is out of a Mt Difficult Fellis MTTY12 cow who is a very good milker. We will keep a full brother to F92 to use in our herd.
- PHAF56 - George Kirby is a bull with heaps of natural thickness. He is a very easy doing bull with plenty of commercial attributes. His full brother was top-price bull at our 2011 on-property bull sale.
- SMOF43 - Inspiration is another son of Markowen Classic, again with beautiful cosmetics. He has always stood out for his growth for age. His mother is an extremely big cow. This bull should put some punch in your herd.
- PHAF157 - this bull is so correct with plenty of thickness. He is by Cannawigra Battleground C79 who is breeding outstanding calves for us.
- PHAF95 - another Battleground calf that has stood out from day one. His mother is our top Markowen Crusader Y2 cow with abundant milk. F95 has beautiful skin and hair and plenty of stretch.

EU market set to double from August 2012
Becoming EU ACCREDITED involves some paperwork but this is more than offset by the premium paid by the market.
In Autumn 2011, we sold weaners for 270c/kg with an average weight of 260kgs, a 30c/kg premium. We will sell more EU weaners this autumn.
From August 2012, the EU quota will more than double from its present 20,000 tonnes to 48,200 tonnes. With European production declining and other exporters failing to fill their quotas, Australian Herefords are in demand. With their superior growth for age and feed conversion, they are ideal for the short-fed EU market.
We would encourage you to take out accreditation if you are eligible. See
http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/export/meat/elmer-3/eucas for more information or call us to learn more about managing EU accreditation.
Have a look at these calves
October 2011 - these are the first calves at Oldfield by our home grown champion sire Oldfield Dynamite! D43 (Reserve Senior Champion, 2010 Sydney Royal) and Cannawigra Battleground C79 whose first sons sold this year to an average of $9,000. These calves are exciting and we are watching their development with interest! Click on the .pdf file to see more calves.
Home grown stud sire
10/04/2010 Reserve Senior Champion Bull, Sydney Royal Easter Show
06/03/2010 Senior Champion Bull, Barraba 99th Annual Agricultural Show
Oldfield Dynamite! D43 is the best bull we have bred in 25 years of stud breeding. At 20 months of age, Dynamite weighed 975kgs and scanned an EMA of 130 square cms. A son of Bowen Tornado Z260 (ET) and Oldfield Lioness W63, we think he is a leading bull for the Hereford breed. Visitors to our stud have consistently picked Dynamite out as the bull they'd like to take home and he roused alot of interest at Sydney Royal too. Dynamite will join our sire battery again for the 2011 joining season as we want his outstanding carcase traits throughout our herd. Semen in Dynamite is available and at commercial quantities if desired. See our "Sales" page for details or contact us direct.
